. a peek out at new york city where it is clear, it's beautiful, with a bit of a chill in the air. nbc meteorologist dialin' dryer is here with more. good morning, dylan. >> thanks, alex, good morning. we are talking about a pretty nice day in the eastern third, and at least half of the country. we're actually looking at most of our wet weather out in the west coast. with a series of storms moving onshore. a little chilly through chicago and the northeast this morning. but most of the middle of the decree is actually going to see a nice warm-up temperatures today getting into the 60s and 70s through the plains states. 70s and 80s in florida. but still chilly up in to boston 46 degrees. it's all about the rain, though. it's moving onshore. heavy rain at that, through california. and actually a series of storms will bring days and days of rain with several inches of rain each day possible through the west coast. but look at the eastern half of the country, from the plains, all the way down into the southeast, up to the northeast, we are looking for a good deal of sunshine. but a closer l
tweets throughout the day. it is time now for a quick check of the weather. new york city is clear and calm right now. it is a beautiful day there. but some parts of the country are bracing for wintry weather late this holiday weekend. nbc meteorologist dylan dreyer is here with the forecast. good morning, dylan. >> thanks, alex. good morning. we are starting off with some very cold temperatures. 13 degrees in minneapolis. we've got temps in the 20s right now in chicago. that cool air is going to settle in to the great lakes, combine that with a northwest wind and we are looking at lake-effect snow back in action across most of the great lakes this morning. and through most of the day for that matter. look at the last 24 hours. we've seen temperatures drop by about 10 to almost 20 degrees. dallas is nearly 20 degrees cooler than it was just this time yesterday. so we are only going to top out in the lower 30s across minneapolis, into chicago today, about 35 degrees. kansas city, 48. but denver, should top out around 70 degrees. you can obviously see where the warm air is located. w

york city. it's sunny, mild, i guess we have nbc meteorologist dylan dryer to thank for that. is this going to last for thursday? >> i think it is. i also appreciate the credit i get for the nice weather. that's awesome. we are going to see pretty decent november weather. a little chilly across the northeast. we can handle 40s and 50s. we do have our warmest air in the middle of the country. they are going to enjoy pretty nice temperatures throughout the day today with highs topping out in the 60s. it's all about the west coast, though. that's the only area we are seeing really heavy rain is moving through california, up into oregon, also up into portions of washington state. we're looking at about 5 inches of rain from now all the way through tuesday. we're also looking at measuring feet of snow through the mountains. so obviously the ski resorts out west will be enjoying this storm system. but it is going to bring perhaps some flooding rains to portions of the pacific northwest coast right down into california. so for your saturday, the eastern half of the country enjoying
